Job Description

Job Summary: This position will be for a master's level clinician to provide individual, group, and family therapy. The LISW-CP clinician will be responsible for assisting with the management of the schedule for the Family Tree clinic team including the Human Service Coordinator II position. The clinician will train the HSC I, HSC II, psychiatry fellow(s), and MSW intern(s) in the facilitation of group, family, and individual therapies. The clinician will participate in clinical supervision to deliver this high-quality evidence-based treatment for adolescents with substance use disorders with fidelity. The clinician will provide oversight and supervision of the implementation of the CBT and MET evidence-based curriculum for the clinic. The clinician will provide client case consultation, training, and guidance to the HSC II and HSC I position(s). The clinician will guide therapeutic interventions with the HSC II and provide coverage of the advanced practice provider and supervisor of the clinic when out on leave to assume all supervisory roles.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in specialty that involves providing behavioral health treatment; Have a license to practice and supervise those pending clinical licensure in the field of Social Work; 1 year of outpatient counseling experience in adolescent substance use disorder treatment. Must have the knowledge and understand of evidence-based psychosocial interventions for substance use among adolescents and the skills and abilities to implement those interventions in various settings (i.e., individual, group, and family). Must have the ability to train clinicians in evidence-based interventions. Will be directly supervised by a licensed Psychologist with weekly supervision.

Job Duties:
  • 15% - Serve as a Supervisor of the REACH clinicians, overseeing the implementation of SBIRT and MET+CBT in-clinic and via telehealth. Meet weekly to review case notes, client sessions, and use of evidence-based approaches within fidelity of the models. Assist with programmatic and clinical duties to the REACH Clinic. Will assist with administrative duties when advance provider and co-principal investigator is out on leave.
  • 10% - Supervise Human Services Coordinators I and II within the Family Tree clinic.
  • 25% - Provide evidence-based individual therapy, primarily MET+CBT, for adolescents with substance use disorders in the clinic, in the community, and via telehealth. The location of the implementation of the evidence-based treatment will be determined by safety (e.g., pandemic) and the needs of the family. The clinician will ensure the implementation of the treatment with fidelity.
  • 15% - Provide evidence-based family therapy (e.g., Brief Strategic Family Therapy) for adolescents with substance use disorders in the clinic, in the community, and via telehealth as determined by safety and the needs of the family. The clinician will coordinate the family therapy with the Human Services Coordinator II and the caregivers as needed and with flexibility to promote the likelihood of engagement of the family.
  • 10% - Provide evidence-based group therapy, primarily MET+CBT, for adolescents with substance use disorders in the clinic, and in the community. The clinician will provide oversight, supervision, and training of the group curriculum to the Human Service Coordinator II and I position(s) as well as the Addiction Science Psychiatry Fellows and Master Social Work Interns that rotate through the clinic annually.
  • 5% - The clinician will participate in supervision with a supervisor to discuss the implementation of individual and family therapy. The clinician will participate in regular (weekly) project meetings with the Project Director and other team members. The clinician will attend community-based meetings to ensure coordination of care with other providers involved with the treatment of shared clients.
  • 10% - The clinician will complete medical documentation in Epic, scheduling in Epic, and ongoing training of the Human Services Coordinator I and II. The clinician organizes, creates, and maintains the MUSC Family Tree Addiction Sciences Teams note templates utilized in individual and group therapy. The clinician will provide weekly supervision to the MSW interns and fellows. The clinician will manage the clinic locations at Summey Medical Pavilion, the Institute of Psychiatry, and the Charleston County School District.
  • 5% -The clinician will track progress of each client and family member served. The clinician will report information to the project director, coordinator, and case manager as needed. The clinician will engage in other administrative duties (e.g., administer the required SAMHSA outcome measure as each required timepoint) relevant to the Family Tree grant as needed.
  • 5% -The clinician will provide community trainings on adolescent substance use, trauma, and impact on family to school and other settings that serve youth. The clinician will also provide trainings to team members within MUSC to assist with evidence-based treatments to the adolescent population who experience co-occurring substance use. These trainings may be either in person or virtual and will also include information as to how to make referrals to the Family Tree project.
