About the Role:

The Unit Manager plays a critical leadership role within a healthcare or social assistance setting, overseeing the daily operations of a specific unit to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and services. This position is responsible for managing staff performance, coordinating resources, and implementing policies that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. The Unit Manager acts as a liaison between frontline staff and senior management, facilitating communication and fostering a collaborative work environment. They are accountable for maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, optimizing operational efficiency, and enhancing patient satisfaction. Ultimately, the Unit Manager ensures that the unit operates smoothly, supports professional development, and meets both clinical and administrative objectives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs nursing services for residents in the facility
  • Ensures compliance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies and procedures.
  • Reviews complaints and grievances made or filed by staff. Makes appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing and Administrator as required or as necessary.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc., is always maintained on every Unit to adequately meet the needs of the resident and notifies appropriate personnel (including the Central Supplies Coordinator) of needs.
  • Assists in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.
  • Ensure nursing/aide assignments completed as indicated.
  • Encourages staff to attend and participate in training programs and schedules times as appropriate.
  • Review nurses' notes to ensure they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care being provided, that they reflect the resident's response to the care, and that such care is provided in accordance with the resident's wishes. Support and assist the nursing staff in the admission of new patients to the facility

Required Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include the following:
  • A nursing degree/diploma from an accredited college or university or nursing institution,
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing direct care in long-term care, restorative or geriatric setting as an LPN/RN.
  • Minimum (1) year of experience in nursing management as RN and (>3) years of experience in nursing management as LPN.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.
  • Requires proficiency in technology-driven patient care and HRIS and timekeeping/attendance software.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
