Your Opportunity:

This Unit Manager position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and clinical functions of the Operating Room, Day Surgery, and Acute Care 1 Obstetrics programs. The successful candidate must possess a diverse clinical background and a strong understanding of both surgical and obstetrical care environments.An ideal candidate will have experience in perioperative services, orthopedics and obstetrics, with demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures, cesarean sections, patient flow, staffing, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary team collaboration. Experience working in both the Operating Room and obstetrical settings is highly valued, as the role requires leadership across multiple specialized areas and the ability to support teams in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Description:

The Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day unit operation including direct supervision of unit staff. This role interacts with physicians, nursing staff, other unit staff, and other departments and interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis and provides clinical support to patient/resident care by exception only. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient/resident care activities and coaches, mentors, motivates and empowers clinical staff. The Unit Manager creates a climate of interdepartmental respect and collaboration, and adheres and models the Covenant Health mission, vision and values. Required Qualifications:
Formal Education: Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing program required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BScN) recommended. Experience: Minimum three (3) years recent nursing experience required. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience recommended. Charge nurse experience required. Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Current registration from the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation B.L.S. Certification (Level C) Health Care Provider required.
