- The candidate must have the ability to underwrite property risks across the spectrum of E&S business while providing leadership, direction, and technical guidance to the team and maintaining a balanced portfolio across both primary and excess placements.
- Position requires the ability to underwrite 100%, primary/shared and layered, and excess structures.
- A strong understanding of current market conditions, the ability to make timely underwriting decisions, manage multiple opportunities simultaneously, and drive execution across the team are essential.
- Partner with regional leadership and peers to help shape strategy, foster a high-performing culture, and continue building a nationally recognized Lexington team.
- Underwrite risks to maintain and profitably grow our E&S portfolio across desired business segments while supporting team production goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues internally and maintain strong visibility and relationships with wholesale trading partners.
- Review and negotiate manuscript form wordings and coverages.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop underwriters within the zone, providing technical expertise, guidance, and support for professional growth.
- Assist with portfolio management, talent development, and execution of regional business objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
- An insurance professional with a minimum of 5 years of Commercial E&S underwriting experience.
- Proven ability to underwrite risks across the spectrum of E&S business while providing leadership and direction to a team and maintaining a balanced portfolio across both primary and excess placements.
- Established relationships within the territory's wholesale brokerage community.
- Prior team leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience, with demonstrated success developing underwriters and fostering collaboration.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of CAT modeling, including OEP/AEP, TvAR, AAL, and Catastrophic Technical Premiums (TCPs).
- Clear understanding of ISO form usage.
- Ability to influence, motivate, and drive results across a team while balancing underwriting discipline and growth objectives.

For positions based in Illinois the base salary range for this position is $120,000-$150,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
