Job Description SummaryServe as a subject matter expert for Underwriting risk audits and point of contact for external auditors. Lead the participation in market conduct exams, reinsurance audits, and Medical Information Bureau (MIB) audits. Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls in compliance with company policies, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and standard industry practices.
Job Description Responsibilities- Perform forensic review audits of underwriting work and provide guidance to team members.
- Lead team in collecting data for audits.
- Serve as a consultant to the Claims department and provide recommendations on contestable claims.
- Trend and report on the mortality and morbidity experience for specified insurance markets.
- Assis the Agent Quality Research Manager, as necessary.
- Lead team meetings as needed.
- Lead special projects and assignments.
- Provide training for new team members.
- Serve as proxy for management as needed.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a business field or equivalent experience
- Ten years of underwriting experience with mortality and morbidity-based products
- Four years of directly related auditing experience
- Thorough knowledge of underwriting practices and industry standards, including but not limited to Sarbanes-Oxley regulations
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to provide feedback and consultation related to audit outcomes, as well as assist and train lower-level staff
- Attention to detail and analytical skills to perform quality review (audit) duties and interpret data derived from quality reviews
Preferred Qualifications- FLMI, FALU certifications
- Contestable claims experience
- Post-issue underwriting experience
- Project management experience
Working ConditionsThe Salary for this position generally ranges between $125,000-$135,000 annually.
Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 15% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.
