Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical life insurance underwriting professional to join our team as an Underwriting Auditor - Life. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about underwriting quality, risk assessment, and helping develop underwriting talent across the organization.

In this role, you will conduct detailed audits of individual life insurance cases to ensure underwriting decisions align with company guidelines, mortality risk philosophy, and industry standards. You'll also play a key role in identifying trends, supporting quality initiatives, and providing meaningful coaching and feedback to underwriting staff.

  • Audit individual life insurance cases for underwriting accuracy, consistency, and guideline adherence
  • Evaluate medical history, financial justification, insurable interest, and risk classification decisions
  • Identify trends, variances, and opportunities to improve underwriting quality and operational effectiveness
  • Provide structured feedback and coaching to underwriters and underwriting leadership
  • Participate in post-issue reviews and analysis to monitor underwriting outcomes and rules engine performance
  • Support underwriting quality initiatives, operational improvements, and cross-functional projects
  • Serve as a subject authority on underwriting standards and risk philosophy


Who You Are
  • 10+ years of individual life underwriting experience
  • Advanced expertise in medical and financial underwriting
  • Strong analytical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Deep understanding of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and regulatory considerations
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and influence underwriting quality across teams
  • Ability to navigate multiple underwriting work bench systems and programs
  • Comfortable using AI and automation to improve the ways of working
  • College degree preferred, high school diploma required.
  • Ability to travel periodically to meet the needs of the business.

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,700 - $161,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
