Description

New Horizon Bank is looking for an Underwriter III to play a critical role in evaluating and approving loan applications and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help us manage risk effectively while providing "white glove" service to our clients.

What you'll spend your time doing:

Underwriting:
  • Underwrite commercial credit actions by reviewing financial statements, analyzing borrower risk ratings, and recommending appropriate loan structuring.
  • Collaborate with loan officers and other team members to gather additional information and clarify borrower details.
  • Ensure all parties are kept informed of underwriting progress and outcomes.
  • Communicate decisions and recommendations clearly and effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to teammates on underwriting procedures and information needs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support underwriting decisions.

Analysis:
  • Source, compile, and interpret financial data to support the structuring and approval of loans.
  • Review industry information, key risks, mitigants, and collateral to form a comprehensive business overview of the borrower.
  • Utilize analysis results to underwrite commercial loans effectively.
  • Prepare credit analysis documentation and servicing information.

Risk Management:
  • Identify and evaluate risks associated with new and existing commercial credit requests and relationships through thorough review and analysis.
  • Collaborate with Bank associates and partners to address risk issues, communicate review schedules, and manage changes in the commercial portfolio.
  • Assist in coordinating review and renewal schedules for existing credits, supporting ongoing risk identification and management.
  • Ensure all underwriting decisions align with the bank's credit policies and procedures.

Business Support:
  • Identify cross-sales opportunities for new and existing relationships based on analytical activities.
  • Partner with associates and clients to determine needs and structure new requests, renewals, and modifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, market trends, and best practices.
