Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will organize and perform the ultrasound examinations and Ultrasound guided procedures in a team environment; Maintain and document high quality images and technologist notes during the course of duties; Actively participate in the implementation of strategies aimed at improving operational efficiency and effectiveness of the ultrasound service; With special focus on delivering optimal patient centred care, provide effective communication with clinical teams, patients and family; Part of a clinical team, work effectively with nurse, physicians, and other health care professionals.
You will be required to work at all SHN hospital locations.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of an established and accredited ultrasound program
- Minimum of current 2 years of hospital experience
- Current membership with CMRITO in good standing with MRT(DMS) credential
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Maintain registry status, in good standing by meeting all professional and college requirements.
- Registration and working knowledge of following specialties: Ultrasound Physics & Instrumentation, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Abdomen and Vascular, Breast imaging.
- Must have venous and arterial doppler and breast imaging experience.
- Breast Ultrasound (diagnostic and screen) experience required, include interpretation of mammogram and breast MRI, knowledge of BIRADS system and breast pathology.
- Demonstrated technical capability in various ultrasound systems (eg. GE and Philips)
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, assess patient capabilities and limitations and make practice adjustments as necessary
- Computer keyboarding and literacy skills
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this are
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Excellent work performance, punctuality and attendance
