Position SummaryWe are currently seeking an experienced
TAR Cost Controller to provide cost management and reporting support for an outage in the Channelview, TX area. The Cost Controller will work closely with project leadership, scheduling, planning, and contractor teams to track costs, commitments, forecasts, and overall outage financial performance.
The successful candidate should have previous turnaround/outage cost controls experience within a refinery, chemical plant, petrochemical, or similar industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities- Track and monitor outage costs, commitments, actuals, accruals, and forecasts.
- Maintain accurate cost reports throughout planning and execution.
- Monitor contractor labor, equipment, materials, and other outage-related expenditures.
- Assist with budget development, forecasting, and estimate-at-completion reporting.
- Identify cost variances and trends and communicate potential impacts to project leadership.
- Coordinate with scheduling, planning, construction, procurement, and contractor teams to ensure accurate cost information.
- Support invoice, purchase order, and contractor cost reconciliation as required.
- Prepare routine cost reports and provide timely information to outage leadership.
- Support final cost reconciliation and outage closeout activities.
Qualifications- Previous turnaround/outage cost controls experience required.
- Experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical plant, or similar heavy industrial environments strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of cost tracking, forecasting, accruals, commitments, and variance analysis.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills.
- Experience working with project controls and contractor cost data.
- Ability to work independently as the primary dedicated cost resource for the outage.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Must be comfortable working extended hours and a 7x12 schedule during outage execution.
