Job ResponsibilitiesTrident Technical College invites qualified full-time employees to apply for the position of Vice President of Economic Development.
Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President of Economic Development is a key member of the College's executive leadership team and serves as the institution's senior leader responsible for advancing workforce development, economic development initiatives, external partnerships, and community engagement strategies. This executive position provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for workforce development, continuing education, employer partnerships, customized training, apprenticeships, internships, and government relations. The Vice President serves as the College's principal representative to business and industry leaders, elected officials, public agencies, workforce organizations, and regional economic development partners. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening the College's position as a premier workforce and economic development partner by building strategic alliances, identifying emerging workforce needs, developing innovative solutions, and expanding opportunities that support regional economic growth.
Key Leadership Responsibilities:- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for workforce and economic development initiatives.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with business, industry, government agencies, workforce organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Lead efforts to expand customized training, continuing education, apprenticeships, internships, and employer-focused solutions.
- Collaborate with internal leaders to align workforce initiatives with institutional priorities and regional workforce demands.
- Represent the College with external partners and support advocacy efforts that advance the College's mission and impact.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in business, economic development, higher education, workforce development, or a closely related field. Doctorate preferred. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience in workforce development, economic development, higher education, government relations, or a related field. Experience within a technical college or community college preferred.
Preferred QualificationsSuccessful candidates will demonstrate:- Knowledge of workforce development systems, continuing education, contract training, labor market trends, and economic development strategies.
- Executive leadership skills with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Ability to build and sustain high-level partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to identify workforce trends and translate community and employer needs into innovative solutions.
- Ability to analyze complex information, establish priorities, and make strategic decisions.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to represent the College at the local, state, and regional levels.
