Full Job Description
About this role

We're looking for an experienced Trust & Safety (T&S) Strategy Lead to help protect the integrity of our marketplace and the community of brands and retailers that depend on it. In this role, you'll own the strategy and execution for keeping Faire's platform safe and trustworthy, ensuring effectiveness of T&S detection systems and enforcement frameworks.

As the team's first strategy hire, you'll play a foundational role: building and scaling enforcement programs and policies from the ground up, and helping set the strategic direction for how T&S operates as Faire grows. You'll operate as a senior individual contributor with meaningful autonomy - defining and driving strategic initiatives, partnering deeply with Engineering, Data Science, and Legal, and translating complex data into the clear, actionable recommendations that shape how we protect the platform.

This is a rare opportunity to build something from scratch in a space that matters. If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, data, and cross-functional collaboration, and you want to own end-to-end outcomes on a problem that directly impacts tens of thousands of independent businesses, we'd love to talk.

What you'll do
  • Define and drive end-to-end trust & safety strategies that protect platform integrity, monitor and contribute to improving the effectiveness of detection systems, and ensure brands meet Faire's Terms of Service
  • Autonomously resolve complex, ambiguous problems, reframing issues from multiple angles to identify root causes and implement scalable solutions
  • Make sense of large, complex datasets to develop hypotheses, size opportunities, and produce clear, data-backed recommendations that inform team priorities and leadership decisions
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Product teams to scope, build, and enhance tooling and systems that improve T&S detection and enforcement capabilities
  • Serve as a domain expert and key cross-functional collaborator, building trust with stakeholders across the business and influencing alignment on strategic priorities
  • Own near-term and longer-range priorities within T&S, translating company goals into actionable plans with clear milestones and measurable outcomes
  • Mentor and elevate teammates, contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team culture

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in a risk, operations, strategy, or analytical role within a fintech or marketplace environment
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and independently own and execute strategic initiatives end-to-end, with measurable business or platform impact
  • Strong data acumen - able to navigate complex datasets, develop and test hypotheses, and translate findings into compelling proposals and recommendations (SQL proficiency required)
  • Experience partnering with Engineering, Data Science, or Product teams to drive systems and tooling improvements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to audience, craft persuasive narratives, and present confidently to senior stakeholders
  • Background in trust & safety, policy, or risk is a plus but not required; we care more about your analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and collaborative approach

Salary Range

San Francisco: the pay range for this role is $144,000 to $198,000 per year.

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week as will be indicated in the job posting.
