Your MissionAs a Trial Attorney, you will take primary responsibility for litigating personal injury cases in Virginia and, where licensed, West Virginia courts. ResponsibilitiesTrial & Litigation- Serve as primary trial counsel for personal injury cases, managing litigation from filing through verdict or settlement.
- Prepare and argue motions, pleadings, and discovery in Virginia courts and, where applicable, West Virginia courts.
- Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials with exceptional preparation and professionalism.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and opposing counsel.
- Collaborate with investigators, accident reconstruction experts, medical providers, and expert witnesses to build compelling cases.
Case Management & Client Advocacy- Manage a caseload of personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, and other negligence claims.
- Provide proactive, compassionate communication to clients while guiding them through the litigation process.
- Ensure all matters are handled efficiently, ethically, and in accordance with firm standards.
- Work closely with paralegals and legal assistants to maintain case momentum and exceptional client service.
Team Collaboration- Partner with attorneys and leadership across the firm to develop litigation strategies.
- Mentor junior legal staff as appropriate and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Participate in professional networking and community events that support the firm's reputation and relationships.
Qualifications- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active Virginia Bar license required.
- Minimum of 4 years of personal injury litigation experience with demonstrated trial success.
- Strong knowledge of Virginia civil procedure and litigation practices.
- Excellent courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and case management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for court appearances.
Preferred- Licensed in West Virginia and/or Maryland.
- Experience handling cases in multiple jurisdictions.
- Established relationships within the Virginia and/or West Virginia legal community.
Compensation$115,000 - $150,000
