As Treasurer, you will play a pivotal role in BDC's financial strength and long-term sustainability. You will lead funding, liquidity management, asset-liability management, and treasury risk management activities while serving as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior leadership team. Your expertise will help ensure that BDC remains well positioned to support Canadian entrepreneurs in an evolving economic environment.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Lead the development and execution of funding, liquidity investment, and treasury risk management strategies that support BDC's business objectives and financial sustainability.
- Optimize net interest income and balance sheet performance through effective asset and liability management.
- Advise the CFO and senior leaders on financial market trends, interest rate developments, and treasury-related strategic opportunities and risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Department of Finance Canada, the Bank of Canada, financial institutions, and external service providers.
- Oversee the management of interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and counterparty credit risk within BDC's banking book.
- Modernize and continuously strengthen Treasury capabilities by leveraging data, analytics, technology, and artificial intelligence.
- Provide governance and oversight for BDC's pension fund investment activities and related reporting.
- Lead a highly specialized team, fostering collaboration, development, and high performance.
- Partner with business leaders to support innovation and the development of financial solutions that meet the evolving needs of Canadian entrepreneurs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Professional designation such as CFA, CPA (CA/CGA/CMA), ASA, or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in treasury, banking, capital markets, financial risk management, asset-liability management, or investment management.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a Treasury Front Office leadership role.
- Experience managing funding programs, liquidity management, and interest rate risk management activities.
- Experience managing financial market activities and banking book risk.
- Experience overseeing pension fund investments and pension governance activities.
- Experience leading and developing teams of specialized financial professionals.
- Knowledge of Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and the Canadian financial regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior executives, Board members, and key external stakeholders.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Bilingualism in English and French
This position's duties require access to confidential information. As a condition of employment, the position therefore requires a "secret" security clearance.
