Full Job Description
Uprite Construction is looking for an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead an upcoming project in Tacoma, Washington. We strongly prefer someone who currently lives in Washington, but we are open to candidates from other locations who are comfortable traveling to Tacoma and to future project sites throughout the United States as needed. The ideal candidate has strong ground up commercial construction experience, with self storage construction experience strongly preferred. This person will be responsible for day to day field leadership, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, safety, quality, and keeping the project moving from mobilization through closeout. What You'll Do • Lead daily field operations and oversee construction activities from start through project completion • Manage subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, inspections, and site logistics • Maintain the project schedule and proactively address issues that could impact milestones • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project teams • Conduct daily site walks and monitor quality, safety, productivity, and overall project progress • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation to ensure work is being completed correctly • Coordinate sequencing of trades and ensure subcontractors are prepared for upcoming work • Identify field conflicts early and work with the project team to develop practical solutions • Maintain accurate daily reports, site documentation, progress photos, and other required records • Lead safety efforts on site and maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite • Manage punch list activities, inspections, turnover, and project closeout • Travel to future project locations throughout the United States as business needs require What We're Looking For • Proven experience as a Superintendent overseeing commercial construction projects • Strong ground up construction experience required • Self storage construction experience strongly preferred • Experience managing projects from site work and foundations through vertical construction, finishes, and turnover • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scheduling, sequencing, and field coordination • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades while maintaining schedule, quality, and safety expectations • Strong communication and problem solving skills • Comfortable working independently and making field decisions when needed • Organized and consistent with project documentation and reporting • Willing and able to travel throughout the United States for future projects • Washington based candidates are preferred, particularly those within reasonable access to Tacoma • Candidates outside Washington will also be considered if they are comfortable traveling to Tacoma for the initial project and to future project locations as needed Preferred Experience • Self storage facilities • Ground up commercial construction • Multi story construction • Structural steel and metal framing • Site development and civil work • Projects requiring coordination of multiple trades and aggressive schedules
