What You'll Do

Wallick is hiring a Traveling Construction Superintendent to lead our multifamily construction project in Tiffin, Ohio. This is a hands-on field role for someone who can run a job site, enforce safety, manage subcontractors, drive the schedule, protect quality and cost, and solve problems as conditions change. You will lead ground-up construction and occupied renovation work from mobilization through turnover. Travel is a major part of the job and assignments typically last 9 to 36 months, then you will be assigned to a new construction role at one of our other Wallick communities.

What You Will Build

  • Ground-up multifamily apartment communities.
  • Affordable and LIHTC housing developments.
  • Senior housing, mixed-income and market-rate communities.
  • Occupied unit renovations and resident-in-place modernization.
  • Historic rehabilitation, building-system replacements, exterior envelope work, repositioning and capital improvements.

Run the Jobsite

  • Lead daily field operations from mobilization through turnover and closeout.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, deliveries, site logistics and trade sequencing.
  • Conduct site walks, verify progress and address field issues before they become delays, rework or added cost.
  • Read and work from drawings, specifications, contracts and project schedules. Communicate freely with all design consultants.
  • Maintain an organized, professional and accountable job site.

What We're Looking For

You are a visible field leader who is steady under pressure, direct and fair about expectations, willing to make decisions and take ownership, and focused on safety, schedule, quality and completing the job the right way.

What You Bring

  • 5 + years of construction field leadership, supervision, or superintendent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in multifamily construction projects.
  • Experience with either ground-up construction or occupied renovation or rehabilitation work.
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, scheduling, safety, quality, field cost control and project controls.
  • Proven ability to lead subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades in active field environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts and schedules.
  • Strong judgment, communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or similar construction systems.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • The willingness to travel extensively and remain near assigned project sites for extended periods.

Helpful Experience

  • LIHTC, affordable housing, senior housing, HUD, USDA or other publicly funded projects.
  • Historic rehabilitation, occupied redevelopment or resident-in-place modernization.
  • Projects up to $15 million.
  • Project recovery or turnaround assignments.
  • Formal scheduling and project controls.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
