Job Description:

GDIT's Military Health team is hiring a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE).

Hybrid work is available, however, candidates should reside in the National Capital Region with the ability to commute periodically to TBICoE HQ in Silver Spring, MD.

Work visa sponsorship is not available.

In this role, you will serve as the SME for TBI across all levels of severity, operating with minimal supervision in a high-tempo environment responsive to DHA and DoW leadership, clinicians, educators, and cognitive monitoring program needs.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Serve as TBICoE's SME on mild, moderate, severe, and penetrating TBI, from prevention through rehabilitation, and stay informed on emerging brain health areas such as blast effects and cognitive performance.
  • Review SME quarterly reports and brief leadership on emerging clinical practice trends, brain health threats, and warfighter-relevant issues.
  • Provide expert analysis to senior leadership on TBI research, clinical care, and standards of care across the full continuum of severity.
  • Collaborate with TBICoE, DoW policy offices, and SMEs to enhance metrics and standardization of TBI services and programs.
  • Contribute to development of training platforms/tools and deliver training when appropriate.
  • Advise leadership on evidence-based evaluation, treatment, management, gaps in knowledge, and future research needs.
  • Support and collaborate on TBICoE/DoW research projects.
  • Participate in scholarly, academic, and scientific meetings related to TBI, brain health, blast exposure, and cognitive monitoring.
  • Adhere to all legal, professional, and ethical standards related to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Contribute to the creation and improvement of TBI clinical documents, recommendations, tools, and resources in partnership with the DoD and VA.
  • Translate research findings into clinical recommendations and develop guidance documents, tools, and patient resources.
  • Provide clinical input on standards of care and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • May supervise junior colleagues.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):
  • MD with specialty training in a TBI-related field.
  • 5+ years of healthcare and/or healthcare research experience.
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals and/or presentations at professional meetings.
  • Strong knowledge of TBI and statistics.

WHAT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER (Preferred):
  • Family Care Provider or Sports Medicine experience.
  • Knowledge of DoW and VA health care systems.
  • Prior experience working within DoW/VA systems.


The likely salary range for this position is $215,467 - $190,325. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
