Job Description
The Division of Acute Care Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida, and Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full time academic, intensivist at the rank of assistant, or associate professor. This role is Clinical coverage of ICU, EGS and Trauma coverage.
Responsibilities
CLINICAL DUTIES: Candidates will be expected to provide intensive care clinical services in the surgical trauma ICU providing day and nighttime inhouse coverage. Admits complex trauma and emergency general surgery type cases. In addition, it admits transplant, general surgery, surgical oncology, OB/GYN oncology, ENT. Collect appropriate history, performs physical exam, orders diagnostic tests and formulates diagnosis and treatment plans. Provides health counseling.
RESEARCH DUTIES: Participated in research studies and QI activities.
TEACHING DUTIES: Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of residents and medical students and will be expected to active participants in the Department's residency training and educational programs and well versed in educational experience of medical students, residents, and clinical fellows.
OTHER DUTIES: Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate or Full Professor- Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Responsible to a Chair, Division Chief or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Board Certified/Eligible in general surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
