Full Job Description
Lead, staff, and manage the corporate transportation network planning group. Create cyclical master schedule route planning, bid packaging, and system setup for all distribution centers. Identify customer and volume shifts throughout the year to incorporate into future routing solutions. Communicate routing initiatives and solutions to both corporate and field management. What you'll do as a Transport Planning Manager: • Corporate Support-Provide strategic plans and initiatives to improve transportation efficiencies and achieve company goals in customer deliveries. • Major Customer Initiatives-Design, plan, and execute major customer initiatives, including new customer rollouts, customer delivery initiative changes, and systems changes to accommodate these new initiatives. • Group Management-Coach, recruit, define objectives for, conduct performance reviews, and prioritize the activities of routing analysts and daily routing managers. • Procurement-Realize buying efficiencies from negotiating consolidated purchasing deals and hold vendors accountable for service and support. • Operations Audits-Review and advise management on the performance of division dispatch teams as requested. Assist transportation managers in implementing operational changes. • Reporting-Ensure the divisions are measured fairly and appropriately and report to upper management for division comparison. • Systems-Identify and implement systems necessary to improve the efficiency of division dispatch teams and drivers. • Other Duties-Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications you'll bring as a Transport Planning Manager: • Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline such as industrial distribution, transportation management, operations research, industrial engineering, systems, or operations management, three years of relevant experience; or five years of relevant industry experience. • Proficient with data manipulation and analysis, use of Microsoft Office, and preventative maintenance systems. • Understanding of Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carriers Safety Agency, and International Fuel Tax Agreement, and knowledge of Property Carrying Driver Hours of Service rules are a plus. • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role.
