Job SummaryOversees enterprise transportation to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. Develops and implements strategies to optimize routes, reduce costs, manage relationships with carriers, and ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities- Advises team members on transportation best practices, including safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance, to ensure optimal operations.
- Assists manager in developing and implementing strategic plans that align transportation activities with overall business objectives and operational goals.
- Coordinates processes and assignments to ensure the timely and efficient movement of goods, optimizing routes, and managing logistics challenges.
- Defines project terms and establishes timelines for transportation initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and resource availability.
- Devises solutions to transportation-related issues, such as delays, vehicle breakdowns, and compliance challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Directs workflow of the transportation team, ensuring that daily operations, including fleet management, scheduling, and route planning, are performed effectively.
- Ensures compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards, both internally and externally, including DOT, OSHA, and other applicable laws.
- Evaluates performance of transportation operations by reviewing data and reports on delivery times, costs, and service levels, making recommendations for improvement.
- Implements systems and software to improve tracking, reporting, and management of transportation activities, enhancing overall efficiency.
