Job Description

The Transportation Manager position requires an individual capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role spends a large percentage of time managing logistics functions to meet goals and objectives. The Transportation Manager plays an active role in motivating driver performance and is responsible for fair and consistent implementation of company policies.

Additional Information:

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

25% Travel

This position is also eligible for a bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

Responsibilities

Major Tasks Performed:
  • Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective deliveries for internal and external customers
  • Ensure optimal tractor/trailer utilization
  • Develop and maintain Contract transportation Services (CTS) budget for the DSC
  • Maintain CTS cost and service goals, and report progress on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Supervise drivers and owner operators, as well as dispatchers and customer service
  • Responsible for continually identifying and implementing transportation service and cost improvements
  • Maintain and review LTL carrier performance
  • Conduct quarterly safety meetings with all drivers
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for fleet in the five focus areas of Operational Excellence: Safety, People, Service, Quality and Cost
  • Support the goal of maintaining VPP certification
  • Lead and champion sustainability efforts of the fleet


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or have at least four (4) years of work experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility or in an operations environment
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience working in a leadership role at a manufacturing and/or distribution facility or in an operations environment
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in the Transportation industry

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have prior work experience leading an OSHA VPP Audit or maintaining VPP Status
  • Have completed formal training in and/or do you have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
