Full Job Description
Compensation:

$90,000 - $110,000 Per Year

Compensation is based on degrees, experience and certificates.

What You'll Do:

  • Ensures appropriate and cost-effective, efficient plans for shipments of incoming and outgoing products/supplies, ensuring timely, efficiently, high-quality delivery
  • Ensures the effective use of all delivery assets and ensures that appropriate maintenance is executed
  • Ensures the cost effectiveness of the delivery function, including the proper control of labor utilization through preventing excessive labor hours, overtime and downtime
  • Ensures effective function of shipping/receiving equipment through scheduled, preventive maintenance to minimize downtime
  • Establishes and monitors procedures designed to assure the health, safety and security of assigned personnel, suppliers and other visitors who come to the facility
  • Reports, investigates out of standard safety compliance conditions and sets corrective action measures in place
  • Coordinates and proactively communicates with internal and external logistics contacts, cross-company functional contacts as well as suppliers/vendors as needed to ensure a consistent and efficient flow of goods and services
  • Manages loading dock group to ensure the accurate loading of goods according to approved loading practices to prevent freight damage during transit and ensuring safe truck operation
  • Ensures the loading and unloading of freight coordinates with other plant personnel to ensure product, equipment, documentation paperwork flows efficiently
  • Determines delivery routes and dispatches drivers accordingly, optimizing efficiencies in time and cost. Tracks delivery routes utilizing a GPS tracking system
  • Monitors and analyzes dispatch activities and scheduling metrics to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Driver management and adherence with DOT compliance and requirements: Driver logs, accident reporting and investigation drug testing requirement and transportation equipment/vehicle maintenance
  • Maximizes driver utilization to ensure a balanced KRA (key results area) approach
  • Solicits bids, analyzes quotes and negotiates terms and ultimately selects contract carriers who can provide the best cost effective rates without sacrificing safety, quality and delivery


How You'll Do It:

  • Openly communicates regularly with carriers to proactively avoid issues and provide updated information
  • Completes required reporting as to functional performance including logistical data, trends, etc. and provider performance
  • Complies with Federal, State and local regulations, material handling and shipping regulations
  • Enforces compliance to regulations and escalates any out of standard conditions to appropriate personnel


What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in plant environment including experience in areas of shipping/deliver/routing, customer service, processes and people.
  • BA/BS degree in a related field or equivalent formal, technical vocational training.
  • Relevant Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State and local health and safety regulations.
  • Experience working with data driven measurements and metrics for functional areas.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, intermediate experience in Microsoft Office, routing software and the Internet.
