Full Job Description
Position Summary:

Manager, Transportation is a corporate role within the Bimbo Bakehouse supply chain team responsible for leading, optimizing, and managing the transportation strategy and execution. The scope of the role includes developing strategic partnerships with transportation providers, building operational and financial KPIs, leading annual RFPs, analyzing financial and volume variances, and developing competencies and capabilities.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Strategic:
  • Lead transportation RFPs/RFQs, including scope development, bid events, carrier evaluation, award recommendations, and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain strategic carrier relationships supporting domestic US and imports from Canada & Mexico.
  • Complete month end close activities & reporting including shipment activity summaries, GRIR, accruals & open carrier invoices.
  • Define OTM Team responsibilities including optimizing OTM system functionality, enhancements & reporting KPIs as well as carrier EDI setups & maintenance.
  • Develop team structure to support current and future business demands

Execution:
  • Lead Transportation Team in planning & executing shipments
  • Provide direct coaching of team members and feedback to OTM team members
  • Solicit and qualify new carriers; lead onboarding and compliance requirements.
  • Manage carrier cost, capacity, and service performance.
  • Provide 3PL/carrier management, including contract oversight, KPI development, performance reviews, and vendor transitions.
  • Partner with carriers/3PLs and Finance to resolve freight billing discrepancies and support timely payment. Complete timely carrier invoice processing with CTSI.

Education and Work History:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Supply Chain or related field.
  • At least 5 years of related and varied experience in both managing transportation and or supply chain.
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted (under education and experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong experience using tools and software such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Ability to travel, visit facilities/sales centers/distribution centers within the organization.
  • Strong analytic skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to plan & accomplish goals with limited supervision.
