Job Description

Our Ottawa, Ontario office is actively seeking a Transportation Engineer for our Roadways & Highways Team. This group provides consulting services for Class Environmental Assessment, Preliminary Design, and Detail Design projects for public sector clients, including the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and several Ontario Southeast clients.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Design integrated municipal roadway, provincial highway, transit facilities, and active transportation facilities projects for clients in the province and for other major municipalities in the province
  • Assist project managers in delivering large multi-disciplinary transportation projects to our clients
  • Project management of small to medium-sized transportation projects during planning, design, and contract administration phases including financial performances.
  • Lead projects or technical components of projects from planning through design and technical support during construction.
  • Plan, organize and control project budgets and schedules.
  • Work with the PM in the drafting and issuance of project proposals, RFP's, tenders, budgets, cash flows, and preliminary schedules
  • Provide direction to engineering staff in the preparation of designs, design drawings, contract documents, engineering specifications, and cost estimates for municipal road and highway engineering work
  • Prepare correspondence, engineering reports, proposals, expressions of interest, specifications and meeting minutes
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals on projects, as well as liaise with clients and sub-consultants
  • Provide project guidance and mentoring for junior staff
  • Provide Quality Management reviews by ensuring corporate policies are followed and documented

  • Past experience in contract administration is an asset

Education and Experience
  • B.A.Sc. or B.Eng. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering program
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the transportation design engineering field preferably with local experience in the consulting industry
