Job DescriptionIn this position as a Transportation Designer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on exciting and challenging multi-disciplinary projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Your Key Responsibilities- Works closely with project managers, engineers and other team members to ensure coordination of design effort.
- Review of topographic survey, contours and points
- Manipulating survey data and creating original ground and design 3D Surface
- Developing horizontal and vertical alignment geometry
- Creating templates for cut and fill, ditch, urban and rural sections
- Creating Design Sections and Corridor
- Prepare quantities, contract drawings and documents for tender and construction.
- Preparing conceptual, functional, preliminary design drawings for presentations, and reports
- Liaison with all discipline team members, sub-consultants, clients and agencies.
- Prepare and review detailed design drawings and presentation materials of highways, urban roads, interchanges and intersections.
- Adheres to the corporate guidelines and applies them in their work.
- Follow QA/QC procedures
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Advanced proficiency with various design software packages: AutoCAD, Civil3D and\or OpenRoads, AutoTurn,
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Practical knowledge of the TAC, OTM and MTO design procedures and standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently, and contribute in a team environment.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Strong organizational skills, time management and ability to prioritize.
Education and Experience- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field.
- Combination of
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway design and transportation engineering.
- OACETT membership or CET / C.Tech designation considered an asset. Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
