NDDOT Starting Salary: $8,127 per month
Permits
Be the main point of contact for landowners, utility companies, developers, cities, counties, and others on permits. Permits include driveway permits, temporary water line permits, utility permits, agreements to work in right of way, billboards, or others. Assist customers with the application process, review permit applications and applicable regulations to approve or deny requests, review permitted work for compliance, and document permitted work in accordance with district procedures.
Construction Project Reviews and Consultant Oversight
Conduct field reviews of State and County projects run by DOT, consultants, or county staff. Field reviews include reviewing all aspects of the construction project such as compliance with staffing standards, determining if traffic control meets standards, sampling and testing being completed according to the requirements, engineering staff enforcing the contract documents, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and environmental permit compliance, and Civil Rights requirements being followed.
Conduct record reviews of State and County projects run by DOT, consultant, or county staff. Record reviews include materials certifications, Pay Quantity Entries (PQE), sampling and testing frequency, pay estimates, labor compliance, CARS documentation, consultant estimates, and other items.
Conduct in depth Construction Engineering Review Team (CERT) reviews of at least 10% of the district projects per year.
Review project final paperwork for compliance with DOT procedures.
Design
Complete plan sets and environmental documents for preventive maintenance projects under the direction of a professional engineer. Review PS&E plans for accuracy and constructability, provide comments, and attend PS&E meetings.
Other Duties
Manage district staffing, finals checklist and design tracking data, create project folders in TEAMS SharePoint containing project plans and proposals, attend required trainings and meetings throughout the year, provide input on proposed specification or design changes, assist with roadway data entry, and run construction projects as the project manager for small projects when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, and six years of work experience performing field engineering; OR
An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, and twelve years of work experience performing field engineering.
Work experience must include large project oversight and management of staff and budgets.
Class D License.
Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, job function screening, reference check and driving records check.
