Work You'll Do

Deloitte is seeking a Consultant to join its Government & Public Services (GPS) Sustainability, Infrastructure & Real Estate practice. This professional will support federal, state, local, and higher education clients in addressing complex challenges related to sustainability strategy, capital planning, infrastructure transformation, real estate optimization, and program delivery. The Consultant will work as part of cross-functional teams to deliver analysis, manage workstreams, develop client-ready materials, and help drive measurable mission outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on generation, transmission, and distribution planning and analytical projects with public sector entities, utilities, and system operators to advance critical priorities across various types of power systems and markets.
  • Work with public sector entities at the federal and state levels to help address a wide-ranging set of electricity challenges, power sector planning priorities, and grid technology adoption issues, using tools and software to undertake analysis and present results.
  • Undertake robust analyses to understand and explain current trends in the electricity sector, including long grid queues, rising electricity prices, adoption of new grid technologies, among others.
  • Utilize planning knowledge and skills to provide information for developer priorities, capital construction projects, transmission interconnections, and distribution load scenarios
  • Write reports and present findings to high level audiences with various levels of understanding on power sector details

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, engineering, environmental studies, real estate, urban planning, architecture, sustainability, or a related field
  • 2+ years of electric utility power system experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel up to 40% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
  • Experience supporting government clients or working in regulated/public sector environments
  • Experience developing power system studies and presenting the results and outcomes to a wide variety of audiences including topics like power flow, stability, short circuit, load and generation addition studies, line impedances and ratings
  • Experience producing data-driven, peer-reviewed work, studies, models, or analysis for technical audiences
  • Proficiency with leading planning software (i.e. PSSE, PowerFactory)
  • Knowledge of standard industry stakeholder roles, compliance rules, regulations, and technical bodies, such NERC/FERC, the independent system operators, public utility commissions, etc.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,700 to $162,800.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
