GAI is seeking a Transmission Senior Project Engineer 2 to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems.
The Transmission Senior Project Engineer 2 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI's Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.
Competency - Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.
Job Responsibilities: - Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
- Preparation of Specification Packages
- Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
- Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower is a bonus
- Design and Analysis of foundations.
- Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications.
- Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
- Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
- Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
- Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.
- Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer and final reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes.

Minimum Years of ExperienceEducation- B.S. or M.S. Engineering, Master's Degree or Equivalent Experience Preferred
Certification/Licensure- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
- Driver's License

- Leads a project in the practice in their area of specialization.
- Predominantly develops appropriate design alternatives for complex engineering projects that consider realistic requirements, constraints, community input, permitting, and other regulatory constraints.
- Integrates advanced concepts to solve complex problems.
Project and Task Management- Oversees large or multidiscipline project teams.
- Recommends personnel and funds required to carry out projects.
- Oversees technical, legal, and financial issues of an entire project.
- Integrates these components into a complete project management plan for a complex engineering project.
- Determines project objectives and requirements.
Management Responsibility- Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Implements staff development plans within their organizational segment, including technical, management, and leadership skills.
Communication Skills- Possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills, including negotiation of critical issues and effective persuasive communication.
