Who are you?

We are seeking an experienced Transmission & Substation Estimator to support large-scale transmission and utility infrastructure projects. With 5-10+ years of estimating experience, you will play a key role in developing accurate cost estimates from early-stage Class 5 concepts through detailed Class 1 estimates, while contributing to the growth and continuous improvement of our estimating practices within a rapidly expanding transmission business.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Support major transmission line and substation projects ranging from capital upgrades to new build infrastructure programs for leading utility and energy clients across Canada.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates across transmission line and substation projects
  • Perform quantity take-offs, develop bill of materials, and define scope from drawings and specifications
  • Support estimates across all stages, including:
    • Conceptual (Class 5)
    • Intermediate (Class 3)
    • Detailed (Class 1)
  • Apply parametric and bottoms-up estimating methodologies
  • Develop key documentation including Basis of Estimate (BoE) and estimate narratives
  • Support cost analysis, benchmarking, and estimating data improvement
  • Collaborate with project teams to align cost, scope, and schedule inputs
  • Utilize estimating and takeoff tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, InEight, Excel)

  • 5-10 years' experience in estimating within transmission, utilities, or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong technical understanding of:
    • Transmission line systems and substations
    • Electrical components and estimating methodologies
  • Experience across pre-construction estimating phases
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working within project controls or integrated delivery teams
  • Experience with estimating platforms such as CostX, InEight, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Accubid or similar tools.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred)

The base salary range for this full-time role is $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate's experience and qualifications.
