DescriptionWe are growing and looking to add a
Transmission Line Engineer to support our Transmission Line team within our Power Group. In this role, you'll design and deliver overhead transmission projects from concept through construction, playing a key role in shaping the infrastructure that powers communities. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and leveraging tools like PLS-CADD and AutoCAD, you'll apply your expertise in high-voltage systems to solve complex challenges and deliver reliable, innovative solutions.
Essential Duties- Design transmission line routes, configurations, and structures to meet client specifications and regulatory standards for systems 25kV and above
- Perform structural analysis, sag-tension calculations, and clearance checks using industry-standard tools to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant designs
- Develop detailed design packages, including drawings and specifications for bidding, permitting, and construction
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams-ROW, environmental, and project management-to successfully deliver transmission projects
- Conduct site visits to evaluate terrain, identify constraints, and recommend practical design solutions
- Support project planning by assisting with estimates, schedules, and procurement strategies
- Provide construction-phase support, addressing design changes and ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines
- Maintain current knowledge of client standards, industry codes, and best practices
- Engage with clients through regular meetings, providing updates and technical insight
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
- 5-15+ years of experience in the design and analysis of transmission lines (25kV and above)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred
- Commitment to staying current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices through ongoing learning
- Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and sound independent judgment
- Solid understanding of electrical and structural engineering principles related to high-voltage systems
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes such as NESC, IEEE, and ASCE
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in design software including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, FAD Tools, and AutoCAD
- Ability to manage assigned work independently with appropriate guidance
