The RoleThis role is designed for an engineer ready to expand their impact beyond design and into leadership. You'll lead overhead line projects, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients to deliver high-quality transmission and distribution solutions.
It's a strong fit for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, team development, and playing a key role in both project execution and continuous improvement.
What Your Day Will Look Like- Lead and mentor a team of Transmission or Distribution engineers
- Perform and review overhead line designs (transmission and/or distribution) using PLS-CADD, and other related tools
- Guide junior engineers and support technical problem solving
- Collaborate with utility clients on line upgrades and design projects
- Contribute technical input to proposals and new project pursuits
- Improve design processes and engineering workflows
- Conduct field visits and site assessments as needed (up to 15% travel)
- Verify clearances, structure integrity, and NESC/client standards compliance
- Prepare construction and record documentation
- Operate with strong technical ownership and leadership presence
Requirements
What You'll Bring to the FamiliaEssentials to Succeed:- Bachelor's in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience designing overhead transmission and/or distribution lines (Most of our supervisors bring ~5+ years, but we're open to strong candidates ready for leadership growth.)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Civil or Structural preferred) preferred, or ability to acquire it within one year of hire.
- PLS-CADD experience preferred; bonus if familiar with PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER
- Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers
- Skilled in problem-solving, client communication, and working with utility teams
- Proficient in Excel and engineering documentation
- Valid driver's license; comfortable with field work and travel
What Sets You Apart:- Experience with transmission, distribution, substation, or power delivery projects
- Skilled in 3D modeling and advanced CAD techniques
- Familiar with project scheduling/resource tools (MS Project, Primavera)
- Knowledge of electrical & construction safety practices, including outage planning
- Experience in outage-driven, utility, or industrial construction environments
