Annual Salary Range
  • $6,677 - $8,077/month


As a Transit Supervisor I, you'll play a key role in keeping our bus operations running safely, smoothly, and reliably. If you're ready to lead drivers, solve challenges in real time, and help deliver excellent service to our community- apply now!

Under general direction, Transit Supervisor I supervises the day-to-day assignments and performance of Bus Driver's on an assigned shift. Incumbents monitor route service, investigate, and resolve customer complaints and assign and supervise the daily assignments of buses, bus drivers and other assigned staff in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal statutes, rules, and regulations.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Supervise daily bus and driver assignments.
• Monitor routes and restore service during delays.
• Investigate service issues, violations, and accidents.
• Resolve customer complaints and minor grievances.
• Prepare reports and operational documentation.
• Evaluate driver performance and recommend actions.
• Respond to field incidents requiring intervention.
• Identify service problems and suggest improvements.
• Perform training, ride-alongs, radio control, or paratransit oversight as assigned.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for the examination and do not assure placement on the eligible list.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in transportation, public or business administration or a closely related field;

AND
  • Three (3) years of experience in transit operations. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education of a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Class 'C' California Driver's License or equivalent, required at time of appointment.
  • Candidates considered for hire may be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class 'B' California Driver's License with Passenger endorsement prior to the end of the probationary period and maintain throughout assignment.

  • HEALTH REIMBURSEMENT ARRANGEMENT (HRA)
  • Eligible retirees can use the remaining Sick Leave balance, in excess of 240 hours, at 80% of hourly rate and other qualified leave balances, tax free, to reimburse health insurance premiums and other qualified medical expenses.

  • DROP (Deferred Retirement Option Program):an optional, voluntary program that allows an employee to deposit retirement benefits in a special savings account within the Retirement System while continuing to work for the City of Fresno for up to 10 years. Participation minimum is age 50 and vested. Benefits include ownership of accumulated funds, compound interest earnings, and alternative distribution options.
