As the Transit Geospatial Analyst, you will provide Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions to support Calgary Transit's operational and decision-making processes. You will focus on performing geospatial analysis, maintaining and managing transit related-geospatial datasets and developing & supporting custom GIS applications and mapping solutions. Primary duties include:
- Collaborate with internal partners to identify and address business challenges, document requirements, develop Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) workflows and perform GIS analysis that support transit studies and planning initiatives.
- Evaluate GIS tools, datasets, and analytical methods to achieve accurate and effective results.
- Develop and execute geospatial analyses in alignment with the established Transit GIS data models and frameworks.
- Create and manage Geodatabases to prepare data packages for publishing new services to Portal.
- Document project-specific data management workflows, structures, and processes to support data integrity.
- Evaluate and consolidate datasets and analytical outputs to produce a wide range of geospatial deliverables, including General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) products, street network shapefiles, Automated Passenger Count (APC) data outputs, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)/Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) speed data analyses.
- Support field data collection by configuring Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) antenna settings, setting up ArcGIS Field Maps and validating collected field data.
- Support GIS and cartographic solutions by communicating product functionality, limitations and capabilities to end users.
Qualifications
- A degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics Engineering or Science, Geography, Geospatial Science, or a related GIS/Geospatial focused discipline and at least 1 year of related experience.
- A demonstrated understanding of cartographic principles and the ability to produce mapping products using ArcGIS Pro, web-based mapping applications and/or ArcGIS Experience Builder.
- Success in this position requires the ability to think analytically with demonstrated problem-solving skills and excellent communication.
