About this roleCarrier is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Project Engineer to lead large-scale manufacturing transformation and industrialization projects supporting new product introduction and production expansion at the Charlotte facility. This role will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex capital and manufacturing engineering projects that enable the successful launch of new products, increase production capacity, improve operational efficiency, and support the long-term growth strategy of the site.
The ideal candidate combines strong electrical and mechanical engineering expertise with exceptional project management skills and a passion for manufacturing excellence. This individual will work cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, and external contractors to drive factory modernization, automation, equipment installation, and production readiness initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership:
- Manage multiple large-scale capital and operational transformation projects simultaneously.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, resource plans, and business justifications.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and financial objectives.
- Drive project execution from design through commissioning and operational handoff.
- Track and communicate project status, risks, mitigation plans, and financial performance to leadership teams.
Manufacturing & Facility Transformation:
- Lead the installation, startup, commissioning, and validation of manufacturing equipment and production lines.
- Support facility modifications, utilities upgrades, automation deployment, and manufacturing layout optimization.
- Identify opportunities for automation, productivity improvements, and labor efficiency enhancements.
- Participate in factory expansion, capacity growth, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Technical Engineering Leadership:
- Provide mechanical and electrical engineering expertise for manufacturing equipment and production systems.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of equipment, controls, and process-related issues.
- Collaborate with suppliers, OEMs, contractors, and engineering teams on equipment design, procurement, and deployment.
- Review engineering drawings, layouts, electrical schematics, and mechanical designs for manufacturability and operational effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Facilities, or Industrial Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and project management within an industrial environment
- 1+ years of experience leading factory transformations, capital projects, equipment installations, or industrialization initiatives
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, production systems, and facility infrastructure
- 3+ years of proven success managing project budgets, schedules, external contractors, and cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications- PMP Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, robotics, or smart manufacturing technologies
- Experience supporting large-scale facility expansions or brownfield manufacturing transformations
- Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, or engineered product manufacturing environments
Pay RangeThe annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other CompensationThis position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
