Position Description: The Utilities - Solution Architect is a client-facing leader responsible for helping utility organizations solve business and technology challenges through practical, integrated solutions. Working closely with utility clients, this individual will develop trusted relationships, understand operational and technology needs, and help define solutions that improve business outcomes.
As a key member of the Utilities team, this role will support client engagements, solution development, project delivery, and business growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will combine utility industry knowledge with strong communication and problem-solving skills to help clients define roadmaps, evaluate options, and modernize their technology landscape.
This role is expected to maintain a defined billable utilization target through a combination of client delivery, advisory services, and participation in strategic initiatives. The individual will have shared responsibility for identifying opportunities, supporting pursuits, and helping develop solutions that create ongoing billable work.
Your future duties and responsibilities:• Act as a trusted advisor to utility clients by understanding their business challenges and technology priorities.
• Lead discussions with client stakeholders to assess current environments and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop solution recommendations, roadmaps, and high-level architectures aligned with client objectives.
• Support projects and client initiatives as a solution lead, architect, or subject matter advisor.
• Contribute to proposals, RFP responses, and technical submissions.
• Collaborate with delivery, consulting, and sales teams to support business growth and client success.
• Help identify and shape opportunities involving modernization, system integration, data, automation, and emerging technologies, including AI.
• Maintain agreed-upon billable utilization targets through active participation in client engagements and opportunity development.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience working within the utility industry, either with a utility, consulting organization, system integrator, or technology provider.
• Understanding of utility operations and the systems that support them, such as OMS, ADMS, AMI, GIS, Asset Management, or Workforce Management.
• Experience engaging directly with clients and translating business needs into solution recommendations.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting solution development, project delivery, or business pursuits.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with Ontario utilities or Local Distribution Companies (LDCs).
• Understanding of system integration, data flows, and utility technology ecosystems.
• Exposure to modernization initiatives involving cloud, data, analytics, automation, or AI-enabled solutions.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $120,000-$170,000 This role is an existing vacancy.
