About the role

The Transfer Station Operations Supervisor leads the safe, compliant, and efficient daily operation of a Reworld solid waste transfer station. This hands-on leadership role oversees site employees, contracted operators, waste haulers, equipment coordination, and facility housekeeping to ensure reliable waste receipt, transfer, and transportation activities.

This position manages a team of approximately eight employees and plays a key role in maintaining a safety-first culture, driving operational performance, and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, approachable, works well with people, and thrives in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities and Activities
  • Lead the safe and efficient daily operation of a high-volume, state-permitted solid waste transfer station.
  • Supervise, coach, train, evaluate, and schedule a team of approximately eight operations employees.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain facility readiness, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate daily activities involving heavy equipment, waste processing, and transportation operations.
  • Partner with Maintenance leadership to ensure equipment availability, repair prioritization, and facility reliability.
  • Coordinate with subcontracted waste haulers and transporters to support timely waste movement and processing.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with customers, vendors, county representatives, facility owners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, workforce development, and staffing plans for the operations team.
  • Monitor operating performance and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Assist with P&L accountability and business performance initiatives while developing a broader understanding of facility financial management.
  • Lead safety, infrastructure, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Partner with facility, regional, corporate, finance, and business management teams to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  • Support compliance with operating agreements, customer commitments, and service-level expectations.
  • Travel between Reworld operating locations as business needs require.


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in industrial, logistics, transportation, transfer station, waste, recycling, material recovery, heavy equipment, construction, or similar operational environment.
  • Experience supervising employees in a fast-paced field or industrial operation required.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in solid waste, transfer station, recycling, transportation, logistics, landfill, or industrial operations preferred.
  • Hydraulic equipment experience preferred; hydraulic certification or licensing is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop employees, and manage performance.
  • Experience working with customers, vendors, contractors, or public stakeholders preferred.
  • Working knowledge of budgets, operational reporting, and financial performance metrics preferred.
  • P&L experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and operational reporting systems.


Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Regular work in an active transfer station environment around heavy equipment, trucks, noise, dust, odors, and moving materials.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold environments.
  • Ability to walk the site, inspect operations, and safely navigate industrial work areas.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $87,300.00 - $116,200.00 USD per annum
