The Opportunity The successful candidate will contribute to technical due diligence engagements for data center/digital as well as other infrastructure assets on behalf of lenders and investors; initially serving in a supporting role to a multi-disciplinary team of Independent Engineering and Technical Due Diligence consultants. This is a key role on a team of engineers, consultants, and financial analysts, with the expectation to collect and analyze data, develop technical assessment reports, conduct site visits, develop and maintain client contacts, and develop overall project management responsibilities over time.
Consultants in this practice generally work on multiple concurrent projects at a given time. This position will report to the transaction solution team within Black & Veatch Infrastructure Advisory.
While the position is eligible for multiple office locations, the preferred location for this role is Denver, Chicago, or Gaithersburg. Strong candidates in other listed locations will be considered.

Industry Knowledge Capability: - Demonstrated knowledge of data center development, design, construction and/or operations
- Leverages experience with early site development, tenant/offtake negotiation or management, engineering and design, inspections, outage assessment, budget processes, equipment condition assessment, capital project assessments, reliability/availability assessments, conducting field observations, performance assessments, and/or financial analysis and models. Utilizes specialized knowledge to produce moderately complex work products and solutions across many phases of an engagement or one phase of a more complex engagement
- Applies appropriate methods or recognized equivalent to identified client needs
- Anticipates and resolves technical problems with occasional technical assistance from others
- Develops, presents, and defends conclusions, recommendations, and implementation plans
- Analyzes and applies best practices knowledge of the relevant industries
Management ResponsibilitiesIndividual Contributor
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
- 4+ years experience in a business/consulting environment
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications- Engineering degree or other technical degree are preferred, though financial, economic, or MBA degrees will be considered if accompanied by supporting relevant experience and qualifications
- Understanding of tenants/offtakes, development, design and operational differences between hyper-scale, edge and colocation data centers and familiarity with data center tier rating systems
- Industry knowledge of one or more of the following related to data centers
- Data center development (site selection, feasibility study, interconnection, access to power/fiber/water)
- Design (civil, structural, mechanical/energy modelling/HVAC, electrical)
- Construction/Commissioning
- Operations
- Understanding of data center infrastructure, power distribution, energy modelling, cooling systems, redundancy requirements (such as for fiber, water and power/generation) and backup requirements
- Ability to operate multiple software packages including:
- Microsoft Office
- Advanced PC literacy
CertificationsCertifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $103,147.00 - $172,721.00
