Full Job Description
General Summary:

Based in the West Trenton, New Jersey corporate office and reporting to the designated Department Administrator, the Trainer is responsible and accountable for evaluating current business needs and practices, identifying target audience needs, and creating and delivering a training development plan complete with materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources such as online modules and guides. The Trainer will also be responsible for training departmental technology solutions and associated business processes. This position requires the Trainer to work closely and communicate regularly with management teams for the respective area, as well as other team members and departments within NJM, as needed. Creating learning solutions with compelling course content that enhances retention, growth and development of staff will be a key focus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and oversite into all training initiatives within the department. Identify training impacts based on departmental or supporting department initiatives. Conduct training needs assessments and to translate findings into coursework that enhances retention, growth, and development of employees. Collaborate with all levels of management to establish training approach and needs to support future training programs for the department and new enterprise initiatives. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the training content is accurate and thorough.
  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the department by educating staff on pertinent state-specific regulations applicable to the insurance industry. Design, develop and update training programs and materials for new hires and existing staff which support and increase employee performance and overall business results. Content to emphasize technological initiatives, regulatory compliance and current or altered processes and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison with Talent Development for ensuring industry and company best practices for training. Determine the best delivery methods based on coursework and audience. Incorporate techniques such as classroom learning, demonstrations, one-on-one coaching sessions and e-learning. Oversee the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, job aids and manuals. Schedule training sessions to minimize disruption to normal working schedules while ensuring that staff members achieve the levels of skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs.
  • Deliver learning content that maximizes the performance of staff members and aligns with company objectives and goals. Create a positive learning environment, convey objectives clearly, encourage, engage, and motivate trainees.
  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employee's work behavior. Adjust the level or type of instruction to ensure training succeeds. Certify that staff are adequately trained in compliance and regulatory issues, and have the skills needed to perform at maximum levels. Provide continuous feedback to management and recommend and coordinate updates to existing training material to ensure continuous improvement of learning content and delivery techniques.


Hours: Either 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Once fully trained, this position will be hybrid with three days in the office and two days working remotely. Additional on-site days may be required on occasion based upon business need.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a corporate trainer
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Instructional design capability; knowledge and experience of Adult Learning Principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills; ability to deliver impactful learning experiences
  • Professional demeanor: ability to communicate and interact with all levels of staff/management
  • Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions; detail-oriented and proactive
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute on multiple training initiatives
  • Some travel is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in education, Training, HR, or related field; insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MCS (Medical Claims Services) Department processes and technology solutions - preferred.
  • Certification from talent/training associations a plus.


Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
Pay Range: $88,176-$102,463
