Position DescriptionThe Workforce Education & Engagement Unit is looking for a creative learning architect and strategic training mastermind, someone who blends left-brain precision in logistics with right-brain instructional design talent to deliver consistent, predictable and sustainable learning experiences. This position serves as a key resource to staff and leadership in strengthening learning culture and workforce capability.
Job Responsibilities - Plan, coordinate, and administer departmentwide training programs, including logistics and resource management.
- Design and deliver instructor-led, hybrid, and e-learning training using adult-learning principles.
- Manage LMS functionality including course creation, enrollment support, troubleshooting, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Conduct needs assessments and propose innovative, aligned learning solutions.
- Develop evaluation tools and prepare reports to assess training effectiveness.
- Collaborate with internal divisions, subject matter experts, leadership, and external consultants; may provide guidance to other training or administrative staff.
Qualifications Required QualificationsExperience: Three years professional experience in adult training/education administration, training project management, and/or educational consulting.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Science, Business/Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
License: Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Desired Qualifications - Advanced instructional design and adult-learning expertise, including experience designing and implementing instructor-led, hybrid, and e-learning programs.
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills, including conducting needs assessments and producing reports to improve training program effectiveness.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for course creation, user support, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Experience collaborating across divisions and with consultants, including coordinating complex training projects and supporting or leading training staff.
Hybrid Work This position's home base is the Seattle Municipal Tower. Most roles within the department follow a
minimum three-day in-office schedule, and this position will occasionally be required to work at other City Light sites as operational needs arise; these instances are considered in-office work.
The City of Seattle offers optional hybrid work. Employees who work
four or more days per week onsite are assigned a dedicated workstation. Employees who work
three or fewer days onsite may reserve a workstation in advance, up to six weeks. Because hybrid work is optional rather than required, the City does not provide a home-office stipend. Employees eligible for hybrid work employees are provided a laptop, charger, and headphones to support their work.
