Job Description:

Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

We are seeking a Service Training Consultant to join our Global Dealer Training team, responsible for delivering high-impact technical learning experiences that strengthen dealer capability, improve service quality, and support customer success worldwide. The role of the training consultant is to support the development of dealer and customer capability across Caterpillar's electric power systems, including generator sets, controls, and integrated power solutions.

In this role, you will deliver high-impact technical training that enables our global dealer network to safely and effectively support Cat® electric power products. You will play a key role in strengthening service excellence, improving system reliability, and supporting customers in critical power applications. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who is passionate about developing others, translating complex engineering concepts into practical training, and supporting Caterpillar's global dealer network.

What You Will Do:

Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Deliver instructor-led technical training to Caterpillar dealers and internal audiences across multiple product platforms and systems
  • Facilitate course delivery covering Electric Power systems, product and solutions.
  • Lead classroom, hands-on, and virtual training sessions to support global learners


Generator Controls & Power Systems Expertise
  • Provide specialized instruction on:
  • Generator control systems (e.g., ECS controllers), including configuration, HMI interfaces, and diagnostics
  • Applied Failure Analysis (AFA), including root cause identification and failure modes
  • Mechanical and electrical systems troubleshooting across Caterpillar equipment
  • Serve as a technical resource to support dealer service operations and product understanding
  • Train on industrial communication protocols used in power systems (CAN, ModBus, Ethernet-based systems)
  • Support understanding of integrated power systems and control architectures
  • Support root cause analysis efforts to improve product reliability and dealer service capability


Assessment & Continuous Improvement/Capability Building
  • Conduct technical assessments to validate knowledge and hands-on skills of dealer technicians
  • Deliver structured feedback to enhance technician capability and operational performance
  • Support continuous improvement of training programs through learner insights and field feedback


Dealer Support & Collaboration
  • Partner with engineering, product groups, and global dealer stakeholders to identify training needs
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) initiatives through targeted technical training delivery
  • Promote best practices in safety, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of power systems
  • Requires travel to Global Dealer Learning training centers, dealerships and customer sites worldwide to teach specific courses


Curriculum & Content Development
  • Support the design of technical training materials aligned with Caterpillar engineering standards and product documentation
  • Customize training solutions based on dealer needs and product updates
  • Create technical content covering electrical fundamentals, system integration, and controls
  • Incorporate real-world failure scenarios and field insights into training content


Project Leadership
  • Assist the Learning Center Manager in developing proposals and budgets for service training projects.
  • Serve as project/product leader when a team effort is required for project completion.
  • Negotiates with approved suppliers to obtain goods and services required to complete approved projects.
  • Advise and assist in the planning, development, coordination and production of all assigned service training requirements.

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of 5+ year service experience with Power Generation
  • Preferably on Caterpillar equipment, generators, generator controls, switchgears and Energy Storage devices, etc.
  • Experience in technical training, field service, or product support within heavy equipment or industrial systems
  • Experience supporting dealer networks or global training programs
  • Strong knowledge of engines, generators, and basic electrical systems
  • Experience with Caterpillar Electric Power products (generator sets, controls, switchgear, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, etc.)
  • Background in Applied Failure Analysis (AFA) and structured troubleshooting
  • Instructor certification (e.g., CIAP)
  • Passionate about people development with an attitude of responsibility, safety, and keeping standards high

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
