SUMMARYIncumbents perform technical and analytical work in support of the City's traffic signal systems, intelligent transportation systems, traffic management center operations, and transportation systems management and operations programs. Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating traffic signal operations; developing, reviewing, and implementing signal timing plans; analyzing traffic data and system performance; supporting the operation of the City's centralized traffic signal system; maintaining signal timing records and ITS databases; responding to traffic signal timing concerns; and coordinating with engineering staff, signal technicians, contractors, consultants, developers, other agencies, and the public.
Incumbents support the safe and efficient operation of the City's transportation network by applying traffic engineering principles, traffic signal timing practices, applicable standards, and traffic operations technology. Work may include field observations, traffic data collection, plan review support, signal system troubleshooting, construction coordination, and Traffic Management Center support during incidents, construction, special events, and recurring congestion.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in a related field, and three (3) years of technical traffic signal systems experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed on job description. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License.
