Are you energized by improving traffic flow, roadway safety, and transportation systems? Join our collaborative, forward-thinking team as a Traffic Civil Engineer in our Allentown office. You'll plan and design traffic solutions for municipal and private-sector clients, delivering safer, more efficient communities. This role blends hands-on fieldwork with thoughtful analyses, offering meaningful impact, professional autonomy, and opportunities to collaborate with other engineers, planners, and public officials.
What You Will Do
• Lead and conduct traffic impact studies, safety analyses, and flow evaluations for municipal and private-sector projects.
• Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications for highway and traffic engineering projects (signals, signage, pavement markings).
• Perform and review studies on parking restrictions, sight distance, speed limits, and pavement markings.
• Design and analyze traffic control devises using Synchro, HSC, or similar software; develop signal timing plans.
• Optimize signal timing to improve efficiency and safety; assess operations under varying conditions.
• Conduct filed investigations and site visits to collect data and validate real-world conditions.
• Collaborate across departments and with clients to deliver high-quality, timely outcomes.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules for municipal and commercial clients.
• Participate in staff, client, and public meetings; address technical and community concerns.
• Stay current with industry standards and technology advancements; apply best practices in traffic engineering.
• Ensure all designs and analyses comply with local, state and federal regulations.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, traffic engineering, or a related field
• 3-8 years of experience in traffic engineering or a related discipline
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings
• Willingness to travel locally throughout the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas
• Proficiency with traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative, problem-solving mindset
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain
• Experience in project management and leading project teams
