Full Job Description
The Compliance Manager will be involved in all matters encompassing regulatory requirements of various governmental agencies. This position will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the company's established import/export compliance policies and procedures to ensure that Imperative Logistics LLC and Masterpiece meet or exceed the requirements of various regulatory agencies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for enforcement of company compliance policies/procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Support all matters with regards to Customs & Border Protection (CBP), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the Directorate for Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) including staying up to date in regulations as it pertains to the company.
  • Responsible for timely reporting to executive team of any specific risk scenarios or noncompliance situations.
  • Responsible for Internal Corporate Compliance Audit Program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for various agencies (i.e. CBP, FMC, Census, FCPA, TSA, CTPAT) and established business performance metrics in conjunction with the compliance team.
  • Manage timely and accurate governmental regulatory reporting and communications in conjunction with compliance analyst staff.
  • Ensure maintenance of company licenses and certifications in good standing such as National Customs Broker License, FMC/OTI license, FMCSA, IATA/CNS and CTPAT certifications.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and other consultants as applicable on potential violations or risk mitigation including possible mitigation of penalties/fines and implementation of corrective action plan.
  • Work cross functionally with IT, Finance and HR to support compliance policies, audits and trainings in order to ensure systems and processes are in place to support staff.
  • Coordinate the development and revision of policies/process, training, and implementation as needed in specific based on potential changes in legislation of governmental regulations or business needs.
  • Lead and develop the corporate compliance team staff with a hands-on approach including specifically ensuring equitable workload distribution, training in areas of responsibilities and guidance to support operations in compliance related matters.
  • Responsible for management of Compliance Team and POA Team ticket support system.
  • Responsible for project management of CargoWise/E2Open enhancement/revision initiatives in conjunction with other relevant support staff to support Compliance policies/procedures.
  • Supervise use of Veroot TSA and Vendor Management portals to support compliance policies regarding vendor selection, CTPAT and IAC responsibilities.
  • Manage the Compliance team page on SharePoint to ensure accuracy and maintenance of information.
  • Support leadership with compliance communications between operations, sales, executive team, legal counsel and/or insurance representatives as applicable.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain or similar industry with 5+ years of experience in a management position.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, related field or equivalent years of experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement application system solutions to support compliance objectives for both clients and regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable governmental regulations.
  • Experience working with various US international trade regulatory agencies including CBP, CTAP, TSA, OFAC and FMC.
  • Industry certification including Licensed CBP Customs Broker License, highly desirable.
  • Some travel may be required to various branch offices, conferences and other related meetings.
  • CargoWise / E2Open experience a plus.


KNOWLDEGE SKILLS AND ABILIITES
  • Knowledge of U.S. trade regulations and compliance requirements, including customs laws, export controls, and other related laws.
  • Familiarity with compliance systems and technology, with the ability to function as an expert in managing and optimizing these systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather, analyze, and interpret compliance data and metrics.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve compliance issues efficiently.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, supply chain, and operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting, presenting, and training on compliance matters.
  • Customer service orientation to effectively address internal and external trade compliance needs.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in compliance documentation, procedures, and audit work.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, audits, and corrective actions simultaneously.
  • Leadership skills to supervise and guide trade compliance analysts in post-entry work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position is an in a position in our warehouse, the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. It requires the ability to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors verbally and in writing, sit for periods of time, operate typical warehouse equipment.
