Full Job Description
Job Summary

This fully onsite position is responsible for leading daily operations of the Tool Room to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production. This position provides direct supervision to Tool Makers and is accountable for tooling readiness, process performance, equipment uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role works cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production, and Supply Chain to support customer requirements and business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and development for Tool Makers.
  • Establish clear priorities and ensure adequate staffing to support production and project requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to meet production goals.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, repair, and refurbishment activities for molds, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Prioritize tooling activities to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate mold change readiness and ensure tooling availability for planned production.
  • Maintain tooling records, maintenance histories, and spare component inventories.
  • Drive improvements to tooling reliability and reduction of unplanned repairs.
  • Support new mold qualifications, engineering changes, and validation activities.
  • Monitor process performance and drive improvements in yield, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Support troubleshooting of molding defects, equipment issues, and process deviations.
  • Review and approve process adjustments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Help coordinate startup, shutdown, and mold change activities to maximize equipment utilization.
  • Communicate departmental priorities, issues, and performance metrics to leadership.
  • Participate in daily management and operational review meetings.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and always follow training procedures.
  • Use good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with all current OSHA safety standards.
  • Follow all safety rules and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' related work experience required.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of injection molding industry and respective processes.
  • Experience in designing and fabricating complex molding tools.
  • Experience working in a regulated GMP or GLP environment.
  • Preferred knowledge of lean manufacturing and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience in driving projects lasting several months with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with SAP systems preferred.


Travel Requirements

5%: Up to 13 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Additional Requirements

  • Medical Device manufacturing requires strict adherence to standards. Working environment is a manufacturing facility, which houses plastic injection molding machines.
  • Must tolerate fumes and particulate generated from various plastics.
  • Work areas are equipped with adequate lighting, cooling/heating and equipment that are in a good working condition.
  • Must work constructively in an environment that may be stressful due to competing resources while at all times maintaining company confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work scheduled work week, plus overtime and/or irregular hours as required to complete assignments.
  • May stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must transport oneself to and from other areas of the facility and travel to other divisions when necessary.
  • Must have good visual acuity. If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues
