Position: Tooling Engineer (Tool & Die Specialist)
Location: Ingersoll, ON
Overall Responsibility:The Tooling Engineer is accountable for the leadership, performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of stamping dies and tooling systems, ensuring optimal reliability, quality, safety, and production support while coordinating with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Accountabilities: - Lead and support the Tool & Die team in all aspects of die maintenance and repair.
- Ensure die readiness and availability to support production schedules and operational requirements.
- Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for stamping dies.
- Coordinate die tryouts, commissioning, and validation activities for new and modified tooling.
- Identify and implement die improvements to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and die life.
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting stamping and tooling issues.
- Manage die change documentation, engineering changes, and tooling records.
- Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and external tooling suppliers to resolve tooling-related concerns.
- Analyze tooling performance data and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime.
- Support capital tooling projects, die transfers, and new product launches.
- Ensure tooling activities comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Qualifications: - Post-secondary education in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Tool & Die, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive stamping, tooling engineering, or tool and die operations.
- Strong understanding of progressive, transfer, and blanking dies.
- Experience leading Tool & Die teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of stamping presses, die maintenance practices, die design principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, tooling specifications, and GD&T.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
