Overview

Join ENERCON's Nuclear Services Group as aThermal-Hydraulic Analysis Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop nuclear and mechanical safety analysis work products supporting licensing, design, qualification, and operability of nuclear power, fuel cycle facilities, and other nuclear facilities. This role is in support of the multi-disciplinary Engineering & Safety Analysis team, which supports radiological, mechanical, thermal-hydraulic, chemical, and meteorological assessments of new and existing nuclear facilities, structures, systems, and components. This position can be Part Time, Full Time, or contract based. This role offers flexibility in the following office locations:

  • Kennewick, WA
  • Naperville, IL
  • FT Worth, TX
  • Palm Beach Gardens, FL


Remote will be considered for candidates with 6+ years of experience in the nuclear or power industries.

Responsibilities

  • Safety & Licensing Support: Prepare calculations, evaluations, engineering change packages, and licensing documents associated with mechanical, nuclear or chemical safety analysis. Provide technical support and develop licensing documents for Safety Analysis Reports (SAR), Integrated Safety Assessments (ISA), or license amendment requests (LAR) related to nuclear analysis licensing submittals. Develop and assess the nuclear facility safety programs, design basis documents, key calculations, processes and procedures in accordance with current design and regulatory requirements and expectations (USNRC & DOE)
  • Containment/Habitability and Environmental Qualification Analysis: Perform steady-state and transient thermal-hydraulic analysis of high energy line breaks, containment response, perform flooding analysis, develop environmental qualification profiles, and perform control room habitability/HVAC performance evaluations. Key Software: Gothic
  • System Transient Evaluations: Perform modeling of nuclear systems using knowledge of thermal-hydraulics and computer software tools in support of commercial operating plants and new reactor designs. Key Software: RELAP5, RETRAN, MELCOR, MAAP
  • Mechanical Analysis: Perform steady state and transient analysis of power plant piping systems including evaluations of hydrodynamic loads, water hammer, heat exchanger performance, pump specification, etc. Key Software: AFT-FATHOM, AFT-ARROW, AFT-IMPULSE, PROTO-FLO, PROTO-HX, PEPSE
  • LOCA and Transient Analysis Methods: Experience with LOCA, transient, stability, subchannel, and other safety analysis methods is preferred
  • Client Relations & Business Development: Participate in and support client peer reviews, expert panels and NRC audits. Collaborate with discipline and client counterparts to ensure project clarity. Develop technical proposals and support business development as required #LI-SH7

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering degree
  • Requires a minimum of 3+ years of experience of safety analysis work in a nuclear environment
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in application of technical skills to unique, varied and challenging engineering problems
  • Willing to travel to a plant site for meetings and/or assignment. Assignments vary based on project and client needs, ranging from a few weeks to several months

Compensation Range

USD $90,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.
