Summary:The Therapeutics Research Scientist participates in early-stage development and evaluation of therapeutic candidates, supporting mechanism of action and efficacy testing using various assay systems. Conducts laboratory-based investigations into novel therapeutics for viral and bacterial threat agents, contributing to preclinical screening and characterization.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:- Perform compound screening assays.
- Evaluate in vitro efficacy and toxicity.
- Support mechanistic studies for lead candidates.
- Maintain lab notebooks and inventory.
- Assist in preparation of technical reports and presentations.
- The contractor will be expected to execute their assigned tasks, and to share their findings with other members of the project team.
- The Contractor is expected to write reports and publications, and present their findings in meetings.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:- Familiarity with high-throughput assay systems.
- Understanding of pharmacodynamics concepts.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Shall be knowledgeable in a relevant field of the life sciences.
- The contractor shall have demonstrated their potential ability to independently plan, execute, analyze, and report on their research through their graduate dissertation.
- Possesses good written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a biological science or chemistry-related field.
- Minimum 2+ years in pharmacology, biochemistry, or microbiology.
- Experience with small molecule and biologic screening.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information, is required.
- Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.
Preferred Qualifications:- ACTIVE SECRET is preferred
- Master's degree preferred.
Pay and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $86,000 - $112,000 annually.
