FTE: 1.0, Shift: Day, Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm

This position includes a $20,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible applicants and relocation bonus from $5,000 up to $10,000 depending on distance!

MultiCare Deaconess Hospital Radiation Oncology, located in downtown Spokane, Washington, is seeking a full-time Therapeutic Medical Physicist. The position is part of the MultiCare Cancer Institute team. The successful candidate will be actively working alongside two Board Certified Radiation Oncologists, one Board Certified Medical Physicist, three Certified Medical Dosimetrists and six Registered Radiation Therapists. This clinic averages 35 patients per day on one Varian TrueBeam Linear accelerator treating a wide variety of cases. Treatment techniques include External Beam only with 3D conformal, electron, IMRT/VMAT, SBRT, and cranial SRS (Hyperarc module). The program is poised for growth, with plans to install an additional linear accelerator and expand services in the coming years.

The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
• Master's degree in Medical Physics from CAMPEP accredited program
• ABR Board Certification (or equivalent) or Board Eligibility (completion of 2-year CAMPEP accredited residency program)
• Experience with SBRT and SRS treatment techniques
• Strong Organizational Skills
• Strong Oral and written communication skills

Position Summary
The Medical Radiation Physicist is responsible overseeing the Therapeutic Radiation/Radiation Oncology program and the Radiation Safety program for Radiation Oncology in the INW region. The job involves designing therapeutic radiation treatments, regulatory evaluation of radiation equipment, supervision of Radiation Therapists and Dosimetrists. This is a professional level position in Radiation Oncology working independently under the direction of the Oncology Administrator (Director of Oncology Services) with matrix responsibility to the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. The Medical Director evaluates the technical aspects of job performance in conjunction with the Oncology Administrator. Work situations are varied and include translating Radiation Oncology prescriptions for therapies into treatment plans, performing in-vitro/in-vivo tests of therapeutic and diagnostic value and overseeing the use of radioactive materials for therapeutic purposes. Internal contacts are generally within the work group, within Diagnostic Imaging and may include clinical staff and management throughout MHS. External contacts include physicians, patients, families, and outside organizations and agencies.

Requirements

  • PhD Degree preferred
  • MSc Degree required
  • ABR Medical Physics certification required
  • Prior experience with a Radioactive Materials License, Radiation Emitting Device license and other Radiation Oncology devices as needed. Familiarity with a Broad Scope Radioactive Materials License required
