Testing & Engineering Business Development Manager- Outside Sales

Bohemia, NY

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining customer relationships, and providing technical solutions that meet customer needs. This role combines sales expertise with technical knowledge to understand customer requirements, recommend the right solutions and to effectively guide customers through the sales process.

The ideal candidate will need to possess confidence in working with both customers and internal technical teams and can effectively translate technical information into clear business solutions.

Key areas of impact:
  • Develop new customers by utilizing past relationships and experience in a face to face outside sales setting.
  • Identify prospective customers and generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, and other sales activities.
  • Understand customer needs, technical requirements, and business objectives.
  • Present and demonstrate Testing & Engineering services as well as other corporate offerings such as Technical Publications.
  • Recommend appropriate services or solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver quotations, proposals, presentations, and other sales materials.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, customer service, and other internal teams to develop solutions and address customer requirements.
  • Manage the sales process from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure expectations are met and opportunities are progressing.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding existing customer relationships.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and activity information within the CRM system.
  • Monitor market conditions, customer needs, competitive activity, and industry trends.
  • Attend customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and other business-development activities as needed.
  • Meet or exceed established sales, revenue, and customer-development objectives.


The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications, skills, and sales experience to successfully drive new business and achieve results:
  • Minimum 2+ yr. associate's degree preferred; in a Technical, or a related field; Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of technical sales, outside sales, engineering sales or related experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems and standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, specifications, drawings, or product information as applicable.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations as required within the NY- Tri-State area
  • US Citizenship, REQUIRED
