Full Job Description
Mandatory Qualifications:
  1. Level III- More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a Tester
  2. 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with strong experience testing Java-based applications, particularly Spring Boot microservices, understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems testing challenges, hands-on experience with API testing tools.
  3. One to five years of experience executing SQL queries for data validation (PostgreSQL preferred); test automation frameworks, defect tracking and test management tools, Git version control. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Experience with government or public sector projects, particularly child support or social services systems
  2. Experience with performance/load testing tools
  3. Familiarity with AWS services (ECS, RDS, SQS, CloudWatch) and testing cloud-deployed applications
  4. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build processes
  5. Experience with contract testing for microservices
  6. Knowledge of BDD frameworks; testing batch processing systems and scheduled jobs
  7. Experience with accessibility testing; monitoring and log analysis for defect investigation (CloudWatch, Splunk)
  8. Understanding of security testing fundamentals (OWASP)
  9. ISTQB or similar QA certification

Duties/Responsibilities:
Quality Engineer for Child Support

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web, API, batch, and integration components
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and exploratory testing across microservices
  • Design and implement automated test suites for REST APIs and web applications
  • Validate Spring Batch jobs for data accuracy, completeness, and performance under high-volume scenarios
  • Test inter-service communication, messaging flows, and integration points with external agencies
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity classification
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Participate in sprint planning, story grooming, and definition of done discussions
  • Perform database validation using SQL queries against PostgreSQL to verify data integrity
  • Conduct performance and load testing for APIs and batch processes
  • Verify deployments across environments (dev, QA, staging, production)
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline quality gates by maintaining and improving automated test coverage
  • Review and provide feedback on technical and functional documentation
  • Other duties as assigned.

Consultants may be eligible to telecommute for more than 50% of their work hours, up to and including 100% remote work. Telecommuting arrangements require direct manager approval and are subject to change based on program needs. Consultants approved for 100% remote work must attend monthly in-person meetings at the Albany office and be available for major milestone meetings as needed.
