YOU

As a Territory Sales Representative (TSR) - Truss, you will be responsible for growing Component Manufacturers' sales in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan while creating and maintaining effective relationships with component manufacturing customers. Your goal for these relationships will be to promote Simpson's Integrated Component Systems (ICS) software suite and related hardware products. This encompasses job management, design and analysis for prefabricated metal plate connected wood trusses and engineered wood products. You will coordinate with and contribute to the overall branch and company efforts to profitably grow our business. You will also lead and participate in training sessions/workshops in and out of the territory. These workshops require scheduling, promotion, set-up, presentation, and take-down, as well as providing observation and suggestions for improvement. You will work with Regional Sales Managers, Technical Sales Engineers, Product Management, Marketing, and other TSRs to develop/coordinate sales strategies and programs; and communicate appropriate market trends and field intelligence to provide Management and Operations to ensure customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Drive demand and grow sales in the defined marketplace. This includes being active with Component Manufacturers, prospecting, conducting sales calls, identifying opportunities, giving presentations including hands on demonstrations, training, and repairing tools. Analyze industry and market needs and develop the appropriate strategies, forecast territory demand, and provide support as needed by the customer and/or company. Assist in securing and maintaining product specifications. (60%)

Ensure existing Building Technology customers are utilizing the software to its greatest capability by conducting sales-oriented software demonstrations. Communicate customer needs and challenges to various teams and product managers and work jointly to provide a solution. (25%)

Promote Simpson Strong-Tie as an industry partner and potential employer; participate in tradeshows, association meetings and various committees and/or causes; provide educational opportunities in classroom settings throughout your territory including but not limited to truss yards, wall panalizers, and contractors. (10%)

Other duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to, consistent CRM management and usage, scheduling, business planning, submitting expense reports in a timely manner, regular maintenance of company-owned vehicles, and other duties as assigned. (5%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience and/or training. Fluent in general construction practices and distribution channels. Must have a strong working knowledge of project workflow from architect/engineer to the contractor. Sales and account management experience with a proven track record of sales/profit growth preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires 50% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position can be located within Indianapolis, IN., Fort Wayne, IN, Springfield, IL, Peoria, IL, or Chicago, IL.

RELOCATION

Relocation may be considered for this position.

PAY

$75,200 - $107,500 / year
